For those who leave the home, much of their history is also left behind. This necklace composed of deerskin, copper, and a silver feather represents the indigenous relationship of Aztec communities in Mexico. The feather has traditionally been associated as messenger, and feathers have been sough out throughout history. Much of the painful history of Mexico is rooted in feather work that indigenous peoples traded with European colonizers, which eventually led to exploitation, occupation, and ultimate land-control.
The feather in the middle represents a message from the body to the Gods and the deerskin represents sought protection represented by the feather.
